What you will learn at a typical seminar
In different years and at different locations, we offer both one day and two day Adhesion Dentistry seminars. The second day (Advanced Concepts) builds on the first day (Current Concepts). The one day Adhesion Dentistry program is a fast-moving condensation of the essential information taken from the two day programs. Our seminars are continually updated and we constantly hear how "new" the information is to those who attended just recently.
Additionally, we offer some guest speaker seminars which differ from year to year. These tend to be held in special locations such as Hawaii, Lake Tahoe, and Yosemite.
Here is an example of a two day program:
Day 1: Current Concepts
The latest bonding technology
Understanding self-etching primers
Why phosphoric etching is contraindicated on dentin
Choosing the best light source
Avoiding some very bad, highly advertised, bonding agents
Posterior composite placement
Efficiency with optimal quality
Bite forming occlusion
Eliminate recurrent caries, the #1 cause revealed
Excellent contacts
Why flowable composites are highly desirable
A super-radiopaque flowable composite
Stop bite-pressure sensitivity without Vitrebond or other base
Clinical trial, 9 year, no liner (Photo Bond only) vs. RMGIC liner (Vitrebond or Fuji)
Composites
Stop sensitivity! What property determines composite wear rate?
Optimal materials selection by brand name
Are GIC liners obsolete?
Matrix improvements
Wedge may be contraindicated
Handling contacts on wide preps
Eliminate post-op sensitivity
Thermal sensitivity
Bite pressure sensitivity
Porcelain repairs that actually work
Porcelain chips
Metal exposure
Repair metal fracture on bridge
Make endo openings disappear
Adhesion Bridges
Metal backed, successful designs
Why electrolytic etching of metal may be contraindicated
Metal-free, successful designs
Direct adhesion, no messing around with CoJet
Impressions
No retraction string necessary
Blood makes no difference, it's displaced by impression material
Tooth whitening
Does the light really help?
Low concentration bleach may be more effective than high concentration
Day 2: Advanced Concepts
Adhesion replaces retention form, think "non-crown"
Determining final occlusion
No commercially driven equipment
Think onlay, not crown
Temporaries retained on flat preps
Unicem- acceptable without adhesive?
The latest bonding technology
Understanding self-etching primers
Incompatibility with Core Paste and light cure adhesive solved
Converting Clearfil SE Bond to dual cure
Permeable supposedly "sealed" dentin
Dealing with Cerec optimally Eliminate sensitivity 100% "Immediate dentin sealing" plays an important role Keep it simple! Removing the powder for optimal adhesion
New ceramic systems
Single metal free crowns
Metal-free bridges
Bonding to zirconia (ex.: Lava)
Bonding to alumina (ex.: Procera)
Why Empress 1 is usually a poor choice for veneers but a great choice for crowns
The next major paradigm shift in dentistry: Ozone
Caries reversal with ozone, its limitations
Now intentionally leave caries and convert to "super dentin"
Stop root sensitivity in 10 seconds and it lasts for a very long time
Reduce duration of canker sores and stop hurting immediately
The role of Fuji Triage in remineralization
MTA pulp cap clinical trials
Nearly 100% success
Portland cement or genuine MTA?
Porcelain veneers after 25 years.
How to treat the tetracycline cases with conservative veneers
How about "no prep" veneers?
Sectional veneers are often the answer (with 15 year plus recalls to prove it)
Why composites fall off incisal edges and veneers do not
What is the best prep
The dentist's big fear, a single central incisor treated, while staying in enamel
How to reduce your chances of being sued over veneer treatment
Covering tetracycline without destroying the tooth
Avoid commercially-driven preps to accommodate the wrong material
The optimal choice of materials to simplify the office
Dump the fridge
Restock with a simple selection
The Top Ten
10 pearls in about 10 minutes
And much, much more
